HYDE PARK — University of Chicago police are asking residents be on the lookout after a 16-year-old boy robbed another teenager at gunpoint on Thursday at the 53rd Street Metra stop.

At 2 p.m., the victim was going down the east stairwell at the train stop when a 16-year-old pulled out a handgun and robbed the teen of his wallet and cell phone, according to police reports.

The robber was described as black with dreadlocks and wearing a black puffy vest, white gym shoes, a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to police.

He ran east on 53rd Street after taking the items, police said.

The victim was not hurt, according to police.

Police are asking anyone with information to call city police at 911 or the university police at 773-702-0101.
