CHICAGO — An Elk Grove Village man found dead Sunday night in the Chicago River was identified Monday morning as 30-year-old Ryan McClelland.
The search for the missing man began when police were alerted of a man's shoes and clothes near the Chicago River. The Chicago Police Department Marine Unit began the search in 1500 block of North Kingsbury Street around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.
Officers pulled McClelland's body from the river in the first block of West Weed Street around 7:50 p.m., Zala said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
