COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 15-year-old boy brought a loaded gun to school and was caught taking selfies in the bathroom while holding the weapon, prosecutors said.

Police were called to Mollison Elementary, 4415 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, by school officials Monday afternoon when the school's principal discovered the teen and another boy taking photos while posing with a loaded .38-caliber revolver, prosecutors said.

Leon Bell Jr., 15, faces one count of unauthorized use of a weapon on school grounds at Mollison, a Safe Passage school. He's been charged as an adult and his bail was set Tuesday at $50,000.

Bell, of the 4700 block of South Indiana Avenue, admitted knowing that the gun was in his backpack, authorities said.

The teen was previously convicted of armed robbery in 2013 and theft in 2011.
