LAKEVIEW — Wrigleyville revelers will be watched extra carefully if they get behind the wheel this weekend.

Police will be on high alert for drunk driving and other car safety violations in the Town Hall Police District, an area encompassing Lakeview and parts of Lincoln Park, Uptown and North Center.

The DUI Strike Force will start at 8 p.m. on Saturday and last until 4 a.m. on Sunday. Officers will be on the lookout for impaired driving, speed issues and safety belt violations.

A mobile unit with breath alcohol testing may also be out to quickly charge people with driving under the influence.

In September, the DUI Strike Force visited Town Hall and made zero arrests for driving under the influence. But they did tow three cars and issued more than 100 citations for other offenses, including nearly 50 traffic violations.

Last week, the force was in the Deering District on the Southwest Side. Police arrested four people for driving under the influence and issued more than 200 citations for other offenses.
