Things to do in Lincoln Park and Old Town on Thursday

CHICAGO — Ideas for Thursday night in the neighborhood include stand-up comedy from Brent Morin, an evening and fundraiser dedicated to Sparklehorse and a show from band Cibo Matto.

Brent Morin at UP Comedy Club, 230 W. North Ave., 8 p.m. (with performances also on Friday and Saturday)

Brent Morin, who worked on the production staff at "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien," performs stand-up comedy at the club this week. Tickets are $20.

Evening Dedicated to Sparklehorse at Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted St., 8 p.m.

Tonic Room hosts an event dedicated to Sparklehorse, a 1990s indie rock band founded by Mark Linkous. Linkous committed suicide in 2010, and all proceeds from the event are set to go to Box of Stars, a non-profit that seeks to bring awareness to mental health through music. Tickets are $7.

Cibo Matto with Buffalo Daughter at Lincoln Hall, 2414 N. Lincoln Ave., 9 p.m.

New York-based band Cibo Matto, made up of Japanese musicians Miho Hatori and Yuka C. Honda,  perform at Lincoln Hall Thursday. The show, which is $20, is opened by Japanese band Buffalo Daughter.
