SOUTH CHICAGO — An Auburn Gresham man died Monday evening after he was found injured in the city's South Chicago neighborhood.

About 3:45 p.m. Monday, police found Carlos Evans, 36, lying on the street between two parked cars in the 8300 block of South Brandon Avenue, authorities said.

The 36-year-old was found with "blunt force trauma to his body," said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Evans, of the 8800 block of South Racine Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police are investigating because it is unclear how Evans was injured, Alfaro said. The incident originally was ruled a hit-and-run Monday afternoon.
