CHICAGO — A Texas man charged with murder after allegedly killing a man and shooting another in December was extradited to Illinois to face charges this week, police said.

Phillip L. Allison, 35, of Missouri City, Texas, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

He was identified as the man who fatally shot 26-year-old Deangelo Shelton and wounded a 25-year-old man in Austin, authorities said.

Police said Allison shot the two men as they were standing in the lobby of a building about 1:25 a.m. on Dec. 14 in the 300 block of North Central Avenue. Cops initially said a group of men were involved in the killing, but no one else has been charged.

Shelton, of the 3800 block of West Arthington Avenue, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The 25-year-old was in serious condition after the shooting, but an update about that victim was not immediately available.

U.S. marshals arrested Allison in Houston, and he was extradited to Illinois on Feb. 24, police said.
