CHICAGO — One man is dead after a shooting in Austin Saturday morning.

Police said two men were standing in the lobby of an apartment building in the 300 block of North Central Avenue in Austin around 1:25 a.m., when a group of people entered, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

That group included a man with a gun who fired multiple shots before everyone fled.

A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were both taken to Stroger Hospital with wounds to their abdomens.

The victim, identifed as Deangelo Shelton, of the 3800 block of West Arthington Avenue, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The other man is in serious condition, Estrada said.

Seven other people were shot, including one other who was killed in overnight violence.
