STREETERVILLE — Nearly nine months after Ogden International School's principal and vice principal were abruptly reassigned, and later resigned, the Local School Council introduced new Vice Principal Erica Gagne at a meeting Monday.

Principal Joshua VanderJagt welcomed the recent DePaul master's program graduate, who said he was "happy to work with."

"I'm extremely excited to be here," Gagne told the council. "I've enjoyed working with our children and the children of Ogden. It's a lot to take in, but it's good. It's a good fit."

Gagne has been at the school for two weeks since transferring from her previous position as resident principal at John C. Coonley School, also in the Chicago Public School system.

A graduate of Connecticut College, Gagne says she caught the teaching bug as a corps member in Teach for America.

That experience "got me into education, and I am addicted now," Gagne said jokingly.

Before Cooley, Gagne used her bachelor's degree in chemistry to help develop science curriculums within CPS, then taught for six years at Team Englewood High School.
