HYDE PARK — The owner of Ja' Grill said Tuesday the restaurant is delayed and will not open for another two to three months.

"Any time you have a construction process, you have ordinances and licensing — it takes time," said Tony Coates, who is opening the second location of his Jamaican restaurant in Harper Court.

He said originally hoped to open earlier this year, but the permits and the unusually bad weather this winter delayed construction.

"How do you get this done when it's so cold you can hardly get things done and it's hard to get people to work?" Coates said.

He said he is still committed to the restaurant to 1518 E. Harper Court to serve the customers currently traveling to Lincoln Park to eat at Ja' Grill.

"I would say about one third of my customers come up from the South Side," Coates said.

Ja' Grill is currently applying for a business and liquor license.
