CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in Woodlawn Wednesday night.

The teen was walking with two other males in the 6100 block of South Vernon Avenue when a white van drove up about 8:20 p.m., police said. Someone inside the van pulled a gun and shot the teen in his head, police said.

Venzel Richardson, 14, of the 6400 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said they suspect the shooting was gang-related.
