ROGERS PARK — A surveillance video from a Clark Street restaurant appears to capture a masked gunman following, then opening fire on, a group of teens Wednesday in a shooting that killed 17-year-old Markeyo Carr.

One of Papa Romeo's Pizza's security cameras was pointed east toward Clark Street at the time of the shooting, when the shooter walked behind Carr and others, including a 15-year-old girl and two 18-year-old men.

Just as the group walks out of the frame at 3:26 p.m. near a McDonald's, the shooter appears to lift a handgun, fire his weapon, and then run out of the frame.

Three other teens were injured in the attack.

"I was in shock," said Papa Romeo's owner Ashfaq Ahmed, 46, referring to what he saw when he played his security footage. "I feel bad. I'm sorry for the guy who died."

Markeyo Carr, a 17-year-old junior at Amundsen High School, died after being shot by a masked gunman Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Rogers Park McDonald's restaurant, police said.

Ahmed said detectives took a copy of the video last week.

He and his wife, Saba Nasir, 34, have owned the restaurant at 6730 N. Clark St., for the last five years.

"It was scary," said Nasir, who wasn't working at the time of the shooting but saw Carr's body in front of the McDonald's, covered in a white sheet.

She said she was thankful she wasn't at the restaurant at the time, fearing for the safety of her two young children, who often come to work with her.

No arrests have been made, but a police source said an Uptown rapper in the group might have been the gunman's target.

Some of the rapper's lyrics reference the ongoing feud between Howard Street's LOC gang and Morse Avenue's ICG gang.

Ahmed said the shooter not only ended the life of a teenager, but also his own.

If caught, he said, "He's going to be in prison for the rest of his life."
