CHICAGO — A 31-year-old man shot Sunday night in Logan Square was among a dozen people wounded in shootings and stabbings over the weekend across Chicago, including two who died from their injuries.
The man was a passenger in a black van headed east on Fullerton Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman. While the van was stopped at a red light in the 3100 block of West Fullerton, a gold van approached and someone inside fired shots, hitting the man in his leg, Alfaro said.
The driver of the victim's vehicle proceeded to drive forward into oncoming traffic, striking two cars, Alfaro said
The 31-year-old man was taken in stable condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Alfaro said.
No one was in custody and the shooting appears to be gang related, Alfaro said.
Sunday afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot on the West Side and three were injured in a shooting in the Ashburn neighborhood. One person was killed and two others were injured Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
Saturday evening, a teen was injured in a South Shore shooting and an 18-year-old was shot along the border of Evanston and Rogers Park.
