AUBURN GRESHAM — One man was killed and another man was wounded in two separate shootings overnight on the city's South Side.

About 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, a group of men was standing in an alley near the 7600 block of South Wallace Street in Auburn Gresham when a gunman opened fire on them, police said.

Willie Buie, 20, was fatally hit in the head and body, authorities said. The 20-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:26 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Buie, of the 7000 block of South Lowe Avenue, was the only one injured in the shooting, and no one was in custody as of early Tuesday morning, police said.

Hours earlier, an 18-year-old man was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting in Englewood.

About 8:45 p.m., the teenager was standing on a sidewalk in the 300 block of West Garfield Boulevard when shots were fired from a passing dark colored sedan, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The teen was shot in the lower right leg and was rushed to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Tuesday morning.
