CHICAGO — Like a typical Bears fan, President Barack Obama says the recent football season left a bad taste.
Appearing in Waukesha, Wis., Thursday to tout a hike in the minimum wage, Obama told a crowd at the GE Energy Waukesha Gas Engines Facility that "I've always appreciated the hospitality that Packer country gives a Bears fan."
As the crowd laughed, Obama added, "I remember when I was up here campaigning the first time and there were some 'Cheeseheads for Obama' and I felt pretty good about that."
Addressing the Packer fans, Obama said "neither of us feel good about our seasons, but that's OK."
"There's always next year," Obama said.
The Packers beat the Bears 33-28 to make the playoffs. Green Bay was knocked out by the San Francisco 49ers in the opening round.
