LAKEVIEW — What do beer and whiskey have in common?
If you ask DryHop Brewers, it's that brewing craft beers is an art — and so is distilling whiskey, owner Greg Shuff said.
It's the "art" of whiskey that the brewery will celebrate in a new bimonthly series called Whiskey and Art, where visitors can taste the differences in various bourbons and view art.
At the first event on Tuesday, the art on display by printmaker Andrew R. Wright is even inspired by whiskey itself.
"We love craft beer, but we also love whiskey," Shuff said in an email. "Similar to brewing beer, there is an art to distilling whiskey and we want to showcase that craft."
Attendees next week will be able to try 1-ounce pours of three different Van Winkle wheated bourbons, a whiskey out of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Ky. Each event will highlight a different whiskey and a different artist.
The event at DryHop, 3155 N. Broadway, starts at 6 p.m. and goes until closing time at 2 a.m. Wright's seven pieces will be available for sale in a hand-bound catalog.
