CHICAGO — A Lincoln Park man has been charged in the sexual assault of two women Friday, including a 69-year-old woman near the Midway "L" stop and a 23-year-old woman in Montclare.
Police said James Whiteside, 30, of the 600 block of West Deming Place, sexually assaulted the 69-year-old woman about 4:15 p.m. Friday.
Authorities said last week that the woman was taking the Orange Line home from work and heading to her parked car when she was attacked by a man with a gun. He forced into her car, sexually assaulted her, and then took her money, cellphone and her ATM card, she told police.
He then drove her to various places and withdrew money from her bank account before leaving her and the car on the West Side, according to police.
Earlier Friday, about 2:30 a.m., Whiteside is accused of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in the 3100 block of North Harlem Avenue. Authorities did not immediately offer further information about that assault.
Whiteside is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault of a victim 60 years of age or older, aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, two kidnapping charges, two robbery charges, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated vehicular hijacking with a weapon.
Whiteside is expected to appear in court Monday.
