HYDE PARK — A man driving on the Dan Ryan Expy. near 59th Street Friday afternoon drove himself to a hospital after another motorist shot him in the face, authorities said.
The man was driving northbound on the expressway about 12:08 p.m. when an unidentified motorist fired shots at him from a gray Chevy Suburban SUV, striking him in his jaw, according to Illinois State Police.
The motorist was shot "on the driver's side," State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
He drove himself to St. Bernard Hospital and Care Center in stable condition, and was later transferred to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to State Police.
No one has been arrested for the shooting, and authorities are investigating.
