CHICAGO — A 62-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash in Gresham, police said.
Around 1:20 a.m. Monday, the woman was driving alone in a 2008 Impala in the 8300 block of South Racine when she struck a fire hydrant, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.
The woman was taken St. Bernard Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m. Monday. She was identified as Laura Philpot of the 5600 block of South May Street in Englewood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
