LINCOLN SQUARE — Chicago boasts three of the hippest hipster 'hoods in the country, according to a recent study — and they may not be the places you'd expect.

Analyzing ZIP code data, RealtyTrac has identified 60625 (Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, Albany Park and North Park), 60647 (Logan Square, Bucktown) and 60642 (West Town, River West) as Chicago's hipster hot spots.

RealtyTrac took a number of factors into account, none of them involving tattoos, beards or craft breweries.

The top Chicago ZIPs scored highest in percent of 25-34 year olds living in the area, "the prime hipster age range," according to RealtyTrac.

The ZIPs also boasted 50 percent renters and at least 20 percent of the population either walked to work or used public transportation, "given that easily walkable, densely populated neighborhoods are another hallmark of hipster culture," according to a press release announcing the study's findings.

Hey Wicker Park, if it makes you feel any better, by these measures, Iowa City is more of a hipster haven than Portland.
