LINCOLN SQUARE — Ald. Ameya Pawar will lead a two-wheeled tour of the 47th Ward on Sunday.

The ride has become an annual tradition since Pawar took office in 2011.

Riders will begin gathering at 9 a.m. at Chase Park, 4701 N. Ashland Ave., and hit the road at 9:30 a.m.

The approximately five-mile, leisurely route will first head south on Clark Street and then west on Berteau Avenue, home of a forthcoming greenway, which will feature a "contra-flow" bike lane that runs counter to vehicular traffic.

Turns on Damen and Sunnyside avenues will take riders past Sulzer Library and Welles Park before heading north on Rockwell Street. A stretch through Winnemac Park will offer riders a view of the park's native prairie restoration plantings.

The ride will finish up at Giddings Plaza before noon.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to hit a high of 60 degrees, with a chance of rain. Check the alderman's Facebook page for potential cancelation information. Email questions to Bill Higgins in the 47th Ward office at bill@chicago47.org.

Bike 47, the Chainlink and Chicago Cycling Club are partnering on the event. Advance registration is available online.
