COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man was arrested after he snatched a cellphone from an 11-year-old boy in the Albany Park neighborhood Saturday, prosecutors said.

Manuel Nava, 32, of the 4700 block of North Paulina Street, was charged with robbery.

Nava stole a cellphone from the 11-year-old kid and then pushed him down, according to Assistant State's Attorney Bridget O'Brien.

The boy pointed responding officers to a man walking westbound on Lawrence Avenue and told them that the man took his cellphone and pushed him, according to the report. The robbery happened Saturday in the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to court documents.

When officers stopped Nava, he was holding a Cricket Wireless cellphone worth $100, which the victim identified as his, according to the report. The boy also identified Nava as the one who took it, according to the report.

Nava told officers about the boy, "I know him. He owes me $20, so I took the phone," according to the report.

Cops arrested Nava in the 3300 block of West Lawrence Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the report.

O'Brien said there was also a 10-year-old victim in the case, though it was unclear if anything was stolen from him.

Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil ordered Nava held on a $150,000 bail Sunday.
