LINCOLN PARK — Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Chicago) is hosting an informational session on the upcoming impacts of the Affordable Care Act Thursday night on DePaul University's Lincoln Park campus.
The seminar, which will be held in the school's Cortelyou Commons, 2324 N. Fremont St., is part of an effort to educate the public of the soon-to-be available health insurance options that will soon be available as part of the act.
Speakers with the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace — the state's upcoming health insurance exchange that will open Oct. 1 — will be at the seminar to explain how individuals can purchase insurance through the new system.
There will also be speakers from the Small Business Administration to explain and answer questions about how the implementation of the health care act will effect businesses and their employees.
Guest speakers will discuss Cook County's new County Care Program, which will enroll newly eligible low-income individuals in the Medicaid program.
Attendees will be able to enroll in that program on-site Thursday night.
Speakers will help attendees determine if they are eligible for new tax credits as well.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Cortelyou Commons.
