CHICAGO — After seeing gunshot flashes, police arrested a man they say shot a man several times in Gage Park early Saturday morning.

Marcos Gonzalez, 19, of the 5200 block of South Campbell Avenue, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated fleeing and numerous traffic violations for the incident about 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

At that time, patrol officers saw gunshot flashes from the 2400 block of West 55th Street coming from where a 24-year-old man was shot in his mouth, foot, left knee and ankle, police said.

That man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Those officers saw a man with a handgun get into the passenger side of a car.

The officers tailed the car, forcing it to a curb in the 5200 block of South Talman Avenue, finding only a driver in it.

It is unclear if there were multiple people in the car.

Gonzalez, the driver, was arrested at the scene.
