WICKER PARK — Meat lovers who enjoy eating meat at home and in the comfort of a restaurant have a new way to indulge in both — just as long as they don't mind traveling to two different neighborhoods.

Wicker Park's Smoke Daddy at 1804 W. Division St. and Lakeview's Paulina Meat Market at 3501 N. Lincoln Ave. launched a customer loyalty program Tuesday, which awards any patron who spends $125 at either business with a $20 gift card for the other locale.

The promotion will last through Nov. 30.

Joe Begale, a butcher at Paulina Meat Market, said he'd just put a sign announcing the loyalty program in his window Wednesday morning, so he's not sure yet how it will be received.

Begale said the idea was sparked by the fact Smoke Daddy recently added a new item to its menu: a hot link sandwich using spicy smoked sausages from the family-run butcher.

A Division Street staple since 1994, Smoke Daddy doubled in size in April, and while the restaurant is known for slow-cooking its own meat in-house, it looked beyond its smoky confines for sausages and selected the Lakeview butcher for the "Paulina Meat Market Hot Link sandwich."

Consisting of a 5.5-ounce lightly smoked sausage with "a wonderful build of back-end heat," according to a news release, the sausage costs $8.95 and goes well with Smoke Daddy's house Mustard Q BBQ sauce and any one of their homemade sides.

In addition to the new loyalty promotion, Smoke Daddy is also gearing up for football season, with its first "BBQ, Beers and Bears" brunch on Saturday and coinciding with the start of college and NFL football season as well as this weekend's Renegade Craft Fair.
