NORTH LAWNDALE — A man died early Tuesday morning after he was shot along with two other men over the weekend, authorities said.

The man, Willie Bush, was shot after apparently getting into an altercation with a man looking for the person responsible for beating up his uncle, police said.

Bush, 49, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 2:04 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Bush was taken to the hospital after he was shot late Saturday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

Police said Bush was standing with two other men on his porch in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue when a group approached in multiple cars, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

A man from one of the cars asked who battered his uncle earlier that day, Mirabelli said, and when the group on the porch responded that they didn't know, several men got out of one of the cars and at least one opened fire.

Bush was shot in the stomach and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The shooting happened about 11:35 p.m., Mirabelli said.

The two men standing with Bush were also shot. A 39-year-old man was hit in the hand and left leg, and a man in his 20s was wounded in the back, police said.

Police did not have information on their conditions and said the investigation was ongoing.

No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning.
