NORTH CENTER — Every Tuesday morning, Todd and Julia McDonald travel the 50 miles from their farm in Manteno, Ill., to Chicago, where they sell their produce at the Lincoln Square farmers market.

On Sept. 8, Blue Sky Bakery is planning a reversal of sorts, hosting a picnic at the McDonalds' Peasants' Plot Organic Farm.

The day, which begins at 10:30 a.m., is one part brunch, one part farm tour and one part yoga class, just because.

Blue Sky will supply its signature pastries, organic meats and a mimosa bar. The McDonalds will provide salads and vegetables that are the very definition of farm fresh, and then treat guests to a behind-the-scenes look at their operation. Bloom Yoga Studio owner Kerry Maiorca is also along for the ride and will lead an optional group yoga class.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend but will require a paid ticket, same as adults. Guests are responsible for their own transportations.

Tickets can be purchased online. The cost ranges from $45 to $55 depending on whether or not the guest opts to participate in yoga or consume alcoholic beverages.
