CHICAGO — A woman escaped an attacker with the help of two good Samaritans early Monday in West Elsdon, police said.

The 18-year-old woman was walking from the Midway Orange Line CTA Station in the 4600 block of West 59th Street about 1 a.m. when a man approached her, according to a community alert.

The man threw the woman to the ground, hit her in her head and tried to sexually assault her. With the help of two people, the woman was able to escape her attacker. The man then ran away, police said.

The man is described as Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old, standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 200 pounds. He has brown, short hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a red baseball cap, a red shirt and blue pants, the alert said.

Police ask anyone with information to call (312) 747-8380.
