ROSCOE VILLAGE — The Traveling Players perform Shakespeare's plays the way the Bard intended — up close and personal.

The family-friendly theater troupe will bring its production of "As You Like It" to Hamlin Park, 3035 N. Hoyne Ave., on Aug. 17 and 18, and on Aug. 24 and 25.

The outdoor setting more closely mirrors the theater experience during Shakespeare's day, with minimal set design, limited amplification and the actors working in close proximity to the audience.

The performances, trimmed to approximately an hour, are free. Those interested in supporting Traveling Players can donate to the company's Indiegogo campaign.

"As You Like It" is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 and Aug. 24; 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 18 and Aug. 25.
