LINCOLN SQUARE — Think the soundtrack to yoga is all tinkling chimes and pan flutes? Think again.
The Bowmanville Green Space is the Chicago host site for Yoga Rocks the Park, a twice-monthly yoga gathering set to live music performed by local musicians.
The next session is scheduled for 9 a.m., Aug. 18, 5386 N. Bowmanville Ave.
Yoga Rocks the Park started six years ago as a one-time event in Denver and has since spread to parks in 15 cities.
The 75-minute outdoor yoga session, suitable for all levels of experience, is accompanied by a wellness fair and Camp Yoga Rocks, which is open to children ages 3-10.
Instructors rotate with every session, which allows practitioners to experience different styles of yoga.
Tickets are $12 if purchased in advance or $15 at the park; Camp Yoga Rocks costs $10 or $7 per child for families enrolling multiple youngsters.
Additional sessions will be held Sept. 15 and Sept. 29.
