17-Year-Old Boy Among Five Shot Since Thursday Evening

CHICAGO — Five people were shot in separate incidents on the South and West Sides since Thursday evening.

The most recent shooting occurred at 12:50 a.m. Friday in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road in North Lawndale, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

A 23-year-old man with documented gang affiliations was shot in his face and sent to Mount Sinai Hospital.

In other shootings:

• A 25-year-old woman was standing with several other people in the 200 block of North Latrobe Avenue when shots were fired in their direction from a dark-colored sedan, Estrada said. Struck in her abdomen, the woman was taken to Stroger Hospital.

• About 9:50 p.m. in Bridgeport, a 22-year-old man was grazed in his head with a bullet shot in the 3100 block of South Lituanica Avenue, Estrada said. The man is in good condition at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center.

• At the same time in Back of the Yards, a 26-year-old man was shot in his elbow in the 4500 block of South Ashland Avenue, Estrada said. The victim has been uncooperative with police, but is in "stable condition."

• In the 6300 block of South Rhodes Avenue, a 17-year-old boy was shot in Woodlawn while on the sidewalk with several friends, Estrada said. The boy told police he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Stroger Hospital by friends and is in "stable" condition.
