Police Warn of Hyde Park Burglaries, Kenwood Lakefront Robberies

CHICAGO — Police are warning South Side residents of a recent rash of robberies in Kenwood and burglaries in Hyde Park.

In Kenwood, several robbers approached victims near the lakefront, either showing a weapon or physically attacking the victims, and stealing property, according to a community alert.

The robberies occurred about 10:25 p.m. July 5 in the 4300 block of South Lake Shore Drive, about 5:10 a.m. July 17 in the 4700 block of South Lake Shore Drive and about 9:10 p.m. July 19 in the 4300 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said.

In Hyde Park, burglars broke into homes through rear porch windows to steal property, police said.

The burglaries occurred during the day July 18 in the 1100 block of East 54th Place and the 5400 block of South University Avenue, police said.
