LAKEVIEW — One man is in custody after a standoff with SWAT team members Monday night, police said.

About 8 p.m., police officers saw a 21-year-old man in a stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 block of West Addison Street.

When the officers confronted the man, he shoved one officer and ran away, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokesman.

Greer said the man then somehow gained access to the roof of a nearby building. SWAT team members were called to the scene.

Fire officials were also called and brought a jump bag to the scene, but the man was taken into custody without injury before 10 p.m., according to the fire department.

The 21-year-old was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation, Greer said.
