Metra Train Kills Man in Irving Park

CHICAGO — A 39-year-old Jefferson Park man died after he was struck by a Metra train in Irving Park Thursday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 10:52 p.m., when the man was hit by a Milwaukee District North Line train near the intersection of Roscoe Street and Kostner Avenue, said Meg Reile, a Metra spokeswoman.

The train, which had been heading northbound to the suburbs, was stopped for more than an hour as police investigated.

Anthony Budzichowski, of the 5300 block of West Foster Avenue, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No further information was immediately available.
