BURNSIDE — Arson may have caused an overnight fire that sent one firefighter to the hospital, officials said.

Police said fire officials are investigating the blaze as suspicious. Firefighters were called to the 2½-story home in the 1300 block of East 93rd Street before 1:30 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.

A fire department lieutenant was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park with neck and back pain he suffered after he was struck by roof debris, the fire department said. No other injuries were reported, police said.

The fire was struck out about 2 a.m.

About 3:30 a.m., firefighters were called to another blaze in the 3700 block of West 55th Street in West Elsdon. The fire "heavily damaged" a daycare center, but no injuries were reported, according to the Fire Department.
