CHICAGO — First Lady Michelle Obama will team up with Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Thursday to promote "youth empowerment" on the city's South and Southwest Sides, the White House announced.

On Thursday morning, the pair will visit Urban Alliance Chicago, an organization that offers a yearlong mentorship and employment program for underserved high school seniors. This year, Urban Alliance connected 71 students in six CPS high schools with internships, jobs, training and mentoring, the White House said.

In the fall, Urban Alliance will double its outreach — assisting 150 students in 13 CPS high schools.

Chicago first lady Amy Rule will join Obama and Emanuel as they promote the expansion.
