CHICAGO — The death of a Roseland woman killed by a man wielding a metal flagpole has been ruled a homicide.

On Saturday about 5:10 p.m., officers responded to a call of a battery at the home of Patricia Martin, 40, of the 10000 block of South Princeton Avenue, police said.

A man had allegedly attacked her with an eight-foot-long metal flag pole, though police were unable to say exactly how it had been used to attack her.

Martin was pronounced dead shortly after midnight at Roseland Community Hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

A man that Martin invited into her home overnight apparently became violent after she told him to leave, the Tribune reported.

Autopsy reports concluded she died from blunt trauma and bleeding to her abdominal area.
