CHICAGO — When George Lucas arrives at Promontory Point for a tony reception celebrating his marriage to Mellody Hobson Saturday, he might not be the biggest name there. A source involved in wedding preparations told DNAinfo.com Chicago that reclusive pop star Prince will be playing the event.

Prince will perform at the reception for two hours alongside a 22-piece band, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Lucas, the director of “Star Wars” and other films, and Hobson, president of Chicago-based Ariel Investments, were married last weekend in California and are planning a massive reception in Chicago at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Construction started late Sunday and by Thursday a $100,000 tent the size of a football field was complete. Workers were busy building four 30-foot walls covered in boxwood branches that may be part of the main entrance to the event.

On Thursday, crews were finishing the final connections for a $60,000 light display and florists from Los Angeles, Nashville and Chicago were arranging hundreds of purple hyacinths, freesia, calla lilies and other flowers for displays as five-gallon buckets of red roses waited to be prepped.

The scene has been a source of much speculation around Hyde Park, and so far the city has been mum on the couple's plans.

The reception is being coordinated by New York party planner Van Wyck & Van Wyck, the Tribune reported. In addition to the tent and floral arrangements, the city repainted a pedestrian tunnel and will close off park bathrooms to the public Saturday, the Tribune said.
