LINCOLN PARK — Lincoln Park's already massive Binny's Beverage Depot is about to get a whole lot bigger.

The liquor retailer announced plans to expand the location at 1720 N. Marcey St. from 33,000 to 50,000 square feet this summer.

The $3 million expansion project will begin in July, but the store will remain open during construction, according to Binny's.

The renovation project will incorporate the Lincoln Park Pumping Station, which was built in 1905, into the expansion.

It will also include taking over a vacant property next door to Binny's.

Once the expansion is complete in October, the new Binny's will feature a wine and craft beer bar that will offer 16 rare craft beers available by the glass, according to Binny's owner and CEO Michael Binstein.

That addition will allow Binny's to renew its focus on wine, beer and spirits education, according to Binstein.

The 50,000-square-foot expansion will increase the Lincoln Park location's annual revenue to $50 million, according to Binstein, and will increase the company's overall revenue to $330 million.

Binny's Beverage Depot has 29 locations and has been in business for 64 years.
