CHICAGO — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is returning to his childhood Washington Park neighborhood Friday to help celebrate a street being named for him.

Following a 1 p.m. ceremony, a portion of Wabash Avenue near 53rd Street will be also known as "Honorary Deval Patrick Way," according to Gov. Patrick Quinn's office.

The Democrat grew up near 54th Street and Wabash Avenue in the Robert Taylor Homes, according to his autobiography "A Reason to Believe."

Patrick attended the Mary C. Terrell School near the housing projects, before being awarded a scholarship to attend high school at the Milton Academy in Massachusetts. Hew went on to attend Harvard Law School.

Patrick will be in Chicago Friday afternoon before flying back to Massachusetts in the evening, his office said.
