HYDE PARK — The Seminary Co-op Bookstore will celebrate its new location with a day of readings on Saturday, culminating with a presentation from award-winning author Aleksandar Hemon.

The bookstore moved from its home of 61 years earlier this year to a new space at 5751 S. Woodlawn Ave., and to celebrate it will hold author readings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hyde Park children’s book authors Elizabeth Fama, Kate Hannigan and Carol Saller will share their favorite picture books at 10:30 a.m.

From noon to 2:30 p.m., co-op staffer Kate McIntyre will give a demonstration on bookmaking while authors and co-op members Neil Shubin, Sara Paretsky and Fred Donner sign copies of their books.

At 3 p.m., Hemon, the author of “The Book of My Lives” and “The Lazarus Project,” will give a keynote address.

Live music and refreshments will be served from 4-6 p.m.

Leading up to the day’s events, the co-op will host a release party for the spring issue of "Critical Inquiry" on Wednesday. On Friday, Jasmine Kwong and Megan E. Doherty will discuss their documentation of the old bookstore space in the basement of the former Chicago Theological Seminary at 5757 S. University Ave.

The University of Chicago bought the former seminary in 2008 and is converting the building to classrooms and offices for the economics department
