Chatham Woman Dies Weeks After March Stabbing

CHICAGO — A woman died Tuesday after being stabbed in her home in Chatham in March, officials said.

Dowanda Williams, 44, was stabbed about 5:21 p.m. March 24 in her home in the 500 block of East 87th Street, police said.

A man was also stabbed in the stomach in the incident and was taken Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Williams' face and body were injured, and she was taken to Advocate in critical condition, fire officials said.

Williams was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital from multiple stab wounds, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
