Glazed and Infused Launches New Summer Doughnuts, Later Hours

By Paul Biasco | April 26, 2013 4:32pm

LINCOLN PARK — Glazed and Infused launched a revamped summer lineup of doughnuts Friday, but don't worry, the maple bacon long john isn't going anywhere.

Starting Friday, the store will also begin staying open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights or until it runs out of doughnuts.

Glazed and Infused's Wicker Park location currently has late night hours and gets a "pretty decent" number of people each night, according to general manager James Gray.

The Lincoln Park location, 939 W. Armitage Ave., is directly across the Kincade's bar, just steps from the DePaul University and right next to the Armitage brown line stop, making it an ideal spot for extended hours.

"It's that late night crowd that's been out drinking, that stumble out of the bar and is like 'let's get a doughnut,'" Gray said.

The hours are geared to either bar hoppers, or night owls with the munchies who can try out the newest doughnut, the bar snack, which is covered with mini M&Ms, pretzels and potato chips.

The spring and summer menu will keep three staple doughnuts, the maple bacon long john, the vanilla bean glazed and the old fashioned, but will add eight new doughnuts and a rotating ninth.

The new doughnuts include chocolate old fashioned, apple oat cake, banana-cream cheese, fruit fritter, strawberry shortcake, key-lime pie and Terry's Toffee.

The Terry's Toffee is a caramel glazed doughnut topped with handmade toffee from Terry's Toffee in the West Loop.

"The idea was fun, fruity summer flavors," Gray said.

The doughnut shop is giving away about 1,500 mini doughnuts of its new flavors during a summer launch party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Park location.
