Roscoe Village Derby Day Pub Crawl: Break Out the Mint Juleps

By Patty Wetli | April 24, 2013 7:48am

ROSCOE VILLAGE — All credit to Roscoe Village Neighbors for turning the fastest two minutes in sports into a five-hour charity pub crawl.

On Derby Day, May 4, the group has organized stops at four local watering holes: Black Rock Pub & Kitchen, Village Tap, Riverview Tavern and The Four Treys Bar. Mint Juleps are not required, but you know what they say: When pretending to be in Kentucky, do as Kentuckians do.

Those prone to displays of sartorial extravagance are encouraged to attend in their most outlandish ensembles. Gentlemen, if ever there were a time to sport a pair of key lime-colored pants, this would be it. Ladies, the rule for hats is think big, and then think bigger. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

The adults-only event kicks off at 2:30 p.m. In addition to drink specials, Roscoe Village Neighbors has planned games, raffles, karaoke and more.

Cost is $25 for those who register in advance, $30 at the door. Proceeds benefit Common Pantry, 3744 N. Damen Ave.

The schedule for the day:

2:30-3:30 p.m., Black Rock Pub & Kitchen, 3614 N. Damen Ave.

3:30-4:30 p.m., Village Tap, 2005 W. Roscoe St.

4:30-6:00 p.m., Riverview Tavern, 1958 W. Roscoe St.

6-7 p.m., The Four Treys Bar, 3333 N. Damen Ave.
