TruHarmony Yoga Opening on Armitage

LINCOLN PARK — In about a month, Yogis looking for a full mind-and-body experience can find it at TruHarmony's newest location on Armitage Avenue in Lincoln Park.

Two yoga studios are currently under construction in the second-floor space at 1123 W. Armitage Ave.

TruHarmony owner and teacher Megan Chappell hopes to have her new location open on May 20.

Chappell opened her first studio in River North in 2010 after spending six years teaching high school and four years in the business world.

She called her new space with its huge windows overlooking the streetscape a dream come true. The location is perfect for her clientele, and the ability to build out the space means there will be day care on site and showers.

"The Yogis who are true Yogis want yoga. They don't want a gym experience," she said. "I really want clients to connect with their best self."

TruHarmony will mainly focus on Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, with one studio that will be heated to 95 degrees at all times. The second smaller studio will also host yoga sculpt classes that incorporate weights and other alternative styles.

"The heat is just a huge benefit," Chappell said. "It adds so much."

Chappell is a Nike Ambassador, and when not teaching classes at her River North studio about three times a week, she often leads yoga at the new Nike Training Club on Armitage.

On Sundays, TruHarmony holds community-based classes that are free, but with a suggested donation that benefits a different charity each month.

The Lincoln Park location will also begin hosting aerial yoga in the fall.
