CHICAGO — Two medics were injured when a Chicago Fire Department ambulance collided with a school bus on the Northwest Side Saturday morning.
There were no children on the school bus, and the driver of the bus refused treatment at the scene, said Chief Joe Roccasalva, a fire department spokesman.
The ambulance, which sustained heavy damage to its front end, was responding to a call in the 5900 block of West Grant Avenue at about 9:20 a.m., when it collided with the school bus at the intersection of Grand and Central avenues, Roccasalva said. The accident is under investigation, and no more information was available.
The two medics were taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Resurrection Medical Center, Roccasalva said.
