Police were called about 11:15 a.m. about a body in the Jackson Park Inner Harbor, near 6400 S. Lake Shore Drive, according to Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

The department's marine unit sent boats and divers to the scene and pulled the body out of the water.

The man was dead when police pulled him from the water, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the body as that of John Williams, 70. Williams' home address was unknown, and he was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. on the scene, officials said.
