
CHICAGO — A 58-year-old man died at his home in a fire in the Washington Heights neighborhood Satuday, fire officials said.
Crews responded to the fire in a single-family home in the 9300 block of South Union Ave. at 1:53 p.m., where they battled flames and heavy smoke in the basement, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a fire department spokesman.
While fighting the fire, they found the body of the Leonard Bloomfield, who was pronounced dead on the scene, he said.
The fire remains under investigation. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office did not know the man's identity.
