Special Needs Transport Van Hits Tree in Morgan Park, No Critical Injuries

CHICAGO — Nine people were sent to local hospitals after a "special needs transport" van hit a tree on the Far South Side Monday morning, though the Chicago Fire Department said none of the injuries was critical.

The van hit a tree in the 11400 block of South May Street about 8:40 a.m.,  the Fire Department said.

Multiple ambulances were called to the scene, but there were no critical injuries, Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez said.

The accident is under investigation, Hernandez said.
