CHICAGO — Nine people were sent to local hospitals after a "special needs transport" van hit a tree on the Far South Side Monday morning, though the Chicago Fire Department said none of the injuries was critical.
The van hit a tree in the 11400 block of South May Street about 8:40 a.m., the Fire Department said.
Multiple ambulances were called to the scene, but there were no critical injuries, Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez said.
The accident is under investigation, Hernandez said.
